So far, this spring has been a decent one for fishing around LBI. The month of May especially was a winner with a steady striper bite, a surprisingly good run of bluefish, and decent catches of fluke.

A prime factor for this is the water temperature being several degrees warmer than usual. There seems to be an abundance of fish in local bay waters as well as the creeks feeding into the bay along with the Mullica River. Most of these fish are under the legal keeper size of 28-inches, but some over that have been reported.

A total of 83 stripers came across the scales this year compared to 32 last year.
